History

\r\n\r\nKDWSP has evolved from a small water project to a fully fledged National award winning Faith Base Organization.\r\n

  • 1986 Formation and inception of Kigezi Diocese Water Department (KDWD)
  • \r\n

  • 1986-1995 Emphasis on Hydraulic structural development
  • \r\n

  • 1995- 1998 Sanitation and hygiene promotion and operations and maintenance were incorporated
  • \r\n

  • 1998-2002 Follow – up support to finished projects was also key and the name changed to Kigezi Diocese Water and Sanitation Programme (KDWSP)
  • \r\n

  • 2000 – 2009 Incorporated poverty alleviation initiatives and promotion of self supply skills based trainings in rain water harvesting technologies, knowledge and experience sharing in the sector at Rain water centre. Research project on Rain water harvesting and advocating for it as best means to increase coverage was emphasized
  • \r\n

  • 2007-2009 KDWS Mainstreamed HIV/AIDS, Environmental protection, food security and family planning
  • \r\n

  • 2009 – 2015 emphasis on formation and participation of sector umbrella organizations like UWASNET and URWA and working closely with the government
  • \r\n

  • 2012-2018 Integration of IWRM and conservation farming through Farming God’s way into WASH projects, building adaptive capacities of communities to address adverse effects of climate change, sustainable yields of water sources and food security.
